Training Day One

Icebreaker

9-9:45 a.m.

Goal: A fun ice breaker for participants to get to know each other and learn about a couple of key social media concepts: Listening, Conversation and Social Networking

  • Write 2 or 3 words on your name tag that represent an area of professional interest
  • The topics should be something you want to have a conversation about with a colleague
  • Find people you don't know already and have a conversation about the topic
  • Listen to the other person and recommend a colleague in your network they should connect with or suggest a resource

Concluding this exercise, explain how this was a face-to-face version of some things social media tools can help you do online:

  • Find people who share your interests
  • Have a conversation about topics of interest with people you don't know already
  • Listening
  • Connect people to resources or colleagues based on what you've heard

Tim: I met Carol from WI, Morris from UT, Allison from GA and Sharlie from KY.
